Ingredients

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp cumin

Tortillas

  • 6 small tortillas, flour or corn

Cream Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sriracha sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice

Optional Toppings

  • 1 cup purple cabbage, shredded
  • 1 medium avocado, sliced
  • 1 cup cotija cheese, crumbled
  • Cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the shrimp: In a medium bowl, toss the peeled and deveined shrimp with olive oil until evenly coated.
  2. Season the shrimp: In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, kosher salt, and cumin. Add this seasoning blend to the shrimp and lightly toss to coat the shrimp evenly with the spices.
  3. Air fry the shrimp: Place the seasoned shrimp in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 400°F (204°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through and slightly crispy on the edges.
  4. Make the cream sauce: While the shrimp cooks, combine mayonnaise, sriracha sauce, and fresh lime juice in a small bowl. Mix well, cover, and set aside until ready to use.
  5. Assemble the tacos: Warm the tortillas if desired. Fill each tortilla with the cooked shrimp, then add shredded purple cabbage, sliced avocado, crumbled cotija cheese, and cilantro garnish according to preference.
  6. Serve with sauce: Drizzle the prepared spicy sriracha cream sauce over the filled tacos just before serving for a creamy, spicy finish.

Notes

  • Customize your tacos with different toppings to keep the flavors fresh and exciting every time.
  • Use low sodium taco seasoning as a convenient alternative to the homemade spice blend for faster prep.
  • To make this recipe low carb, omit tortillas and serve the shrimp and toppings in lettuce leaves instead.
