This Banana Split S’mores Dip is a deliciously fun twist on classic s’mores, incorporating bananas, strawberries, and pecans for a fruity and nutty flavor. Perfect for indoor or outdoor cooking, this warm, gooey dip is made with layers of graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, fresh fruit, and chopped pecans, broiled to golden perfection and served with graham cracker rectangles.

Ingredients

Equipment

  • 10”-12” iron skillet

Base Layer

  • 4 graham cracker sheets (crushed into crumbs)

Chocolate and Marshmallows

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided (plus 1 tablespoon extra)
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows

Fruits and Nuts

  • 1 large banana, sliced or 1/2 cup banana chips
  • 1/2 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base: Crush about 4 graham cracker sheets into crumbs and lightly grease your cast iron skillet. Sprinkle the crushed graham crackers evenly over the bottom of the skillet to create a crunchy base layer.
  2. Add chocolate chips: Sprinkle 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly on top of the graham cracker crumbs, ensuring good coverage for a rich, melty chocolate layer.
  3. Layer marshmallows: Cover the chocolate chips completely with 1 1/2 cups of mini marshmallows, spreading them evenly to fill the skillet.
  4. Top with fruit and nuts: Arrange sliced bananas and strawberries over the marshmallows. Then sprinkle 1/4 cup of chopped pecans and the remaining 1 tablespoon of chocolate chips on top to add crunch and extra chocolate flavor.
  5. Cook the dip: For indoor cooking, place the skillet under the broiler on HIGH for 3-4 minutes or until the marshmallows puff up and turn golden brown. For outdoor cooking, set the skillet on a grate over indirect heat on a grill or campfire, avoiding direct flames, and heat until marshmallows melt and toast lightly.
  6. Cool and serve: Remove the skillet and let the dip cool for about 5 minutes to thicken slightly. Serve warm by scooping with graham cracker rectangles and enjoy the gooey, fruity s’mores delight.

Notes

  • Watch the marshmallows closely while broiling to prevent burning.
  • If using banana chips instead of fresh banana, note the texture will be crunchier and less creamy.
  • Using a cast iron skillet ensures even heating and a crispy base.
  • This dip is great for both indoor ovens and outdoor grills or campfires.
  • Can be customized with other fruits or nuts according to preference.
