This recipe combines crispy rice cereal with melted marshmallows and a hint of cake mix for a flavorful, sweet treat topped with festive sprinkles. Perfect for parties, desserts, or anytime you want a nostalgic, easy-to-make delight.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1 bag Mini-Marshmallows (4 cups)
  • 2/3 cup Dry Cake Mix (Yellow, White, or Confetti)
  • 5 cups Crispy Rice Cereal
  • 1 container Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Keep the heat low to prevent burning.
  2. Add Marshmallows: Once the butter is melted, add 4 cups of mini marshmallows to the pan. Stir frequently to melt marshmallows completely until smooth and lump-free.
  3. Add Cake Mix: Stir in 2/3 cup of dry cake mix into the melted marshmallow mixture, then remove the pan from heat.
  4. Mix in Cereal and Sprinkles: Add 5 cups of crispy rice cereal and about half the container of sprinkles to the marshmallow mixture. Stir gently to coat all cereal evenly.
  5. Press into Pan: Pour the mixture into a 13x9x2-inch pan coated lightly with cooking spray. Using wax paper or a spatula sprayed with cooking spray, press the mixture evenly across the pan.
  6. Add Final Sprinkles & Serve: Sprinkle the remaining sprinkles on top for decoration and extra fun. Allow the treats to cool slightly, then cut and enjoy!

Notes

  • Melt marshmallows on low heat to avoid hard, crunchy treats.
  • Use a pan size based on desired treat thickness; smaller pans yield thicker treats.
  • Spray hands with cooking spray if pressing the mixture by hand to prevent sticking.
