A rich and creamy Double Chocolate Cottage Cheese Mousse that combines the protein-packed goodness of full-fat cottage cheese with decadent cocoa and melted chocolate. This healthy dessert is silky smooth, lightly sweetened with optional maple syrup, and perfect for satisfying chocolate cravings without guilt. Ready in minutes using a blender or food processor, it’s ideal for meal prep and can be enjoyed chilled with toppings like Greek yogurt or mini chocolate chips.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons (250 g) full fat cottage cheese
  • 1.5 tablespoons (7.5 g) cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) chocolate chips (Lily’s low-sugar recommended)
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)

Optional Toppings

  • Greek yogurt
  • Shaved chocolate
  • Mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Blend Cottage Cheese Mixture: Add the cottage cheese, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract to a food processor or high-speed blender. Blend thoroughly, scraping down the sides as needed, until the mixture is silky smooth and fully combined.
  2. Melt Chocolate Chips: Microwave the chocolate chips in 20-second increments, stirring between each interval to prevent burning. Remove when some chips are still unmelted and stir well; residual heat will finish melting the chocolate.
  3. Combine Melted Chocolate: Add the melted chocolate to the blender or food processor and blend again until the chocolate is fully incorporated and the mousse is smooth.
  4. Chill the Mousse: Divide the mousse evenly between two 4-ounce mason jars or small containers. Seal with lids and refrigerate for at least one hour to allow flavors to meld and texture to firm up.
  5. Serve with Toppings: Before serving, add optional toppings such as a dollop of Greek yogurt, shaved chocolate, or mini chocolate chips to enhance the flavor and presentation.

Notes

  • Additional Sweetener: The mousse is mildly sweet; add 1–2 tablespoons of maple syrup during blending if you prefer a sweeter dessert.
  • Storage: Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator for 3–4 days. The flavor intensifies over time while texture remains creamy.
  • Freezing: You may freeze the mousse for up to 2 months in small containers. Thaw in the fridge before serving. Texture may become more ice-cream-like.
  • Meal Prep Tip: Portion into jars for easy grab-and-go servings. Add fresh toppings just before eating to maintain freshness.
