This refreshing Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte is a delightful blend of earthy matcha green tea and sweet, fresh strawberries. It features layers of strawberry puree, chilled matcha, and creamy almond milk, making it a perfect cooling drink for warm days or a delightful afternoon pick-me-up. The drink combines natural sweetness with antioxidant-rich matcha, creating a beautiful and tasty beverage that’s both vibrant and nourishing.

Ingredients

Matcha Layer

  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 1-2 tbsp hot water
  • ⅓ cup warm water

Strawberry Layer

  • 6 fresh strawberries
  • 1-2 tsp agave syrup (or sweetener of choice)

Additional Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup ice
  • ⅓ cup almond milk (or milk of choice)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the matcha paste: In a measuring cup or bowl, add the matcha powder. Pour in 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot water and whisk vigorously until you achieve a smooth, paste-like consistency without lumps.
  2. Mix and chill the matcha: Add ⅓ cup of warm water to the matcha paste and mix thoroughly. Transfer the mixture to the fridge or freezer and let it chill for about 15 minutes to cool down.
  3. Make the strawberry puree: Using a blender, combine the fresh strawberries with 1 to 2 teaspoons of agave syrup or your preferred sweetener. Blend until smooth. If you don’t have a blender, you can finely mash the strawberries using a fork until they form a thick puree.
  4. Assemble the strawberry layer: Pour the strawberry puree into your serving glass, forming the base layer of the drink.
  5. Add ice and milk: Add ⅓ cup of ice cubes on top of the strawberry puree, then pour ⅓ cup of cold almond milk or your chosen milk over the ice.
  6. Finish with chilled matcha: Pour the chilled matcha mixture gently over the top of the milk layer. Stir before drinking to combine all the flavors. Serve immediately and enjoy your iced strawberry matcha latte!

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by increasing or decreasing agave syrup according to taste.
  • For a creamier texture, substitute almond milk with oat milk, soy milk, or regular dairy milk.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor; frozen strawberries can also be used but might alter texture slightly.
  • Whisking the matcha powder thoroughly helps avoid clumps and bitterness.
  • Serving immediately ensures the latte layers remain distinct, but stirring blends all flavors nicely.
