This Orange Glazed Salmon recipe features tender salmon fillets cooked to perfection and coated in a vibrant, sweet, and tangy orange glaze. With simple ingredients like fresh orange juice, honey, soy sauce, and garlic, this skillet-cooked dish delivers a flavorful and healthy meal that’s easy to prepare on the stovetop.

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 1 pound salmon fillets
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Orange Glaze

  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice (from approximately 1 orange)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch whisked with 1 teaspoon water (optional, for thicker glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Season the salmon fillets evenly with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook Salmon: Place the salmon fillets skin side up in the hot skillet. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the top is golden brown. Flip the fillets carefully and continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F, indicating the salmon is fully cooked.
  3. Rest the Salmon: Remove the cooked salmon from the skillet and place it on a plate. Tent loosely with foil to keep warm while you prepare the sauce.
  4. Make the Orange Glaze: Lower the heat to medium. In a bowl, whisk together the fresh orange juice, honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and the optional cornstarch slurry if you desire a thicker glaze.
  5. Cook the Glaze: Pour the mixture into the same skillet used for the salmon. Cook, stirring frequently, until the sauce is hot and begins to thicken, about 30-60 seconds if you included the cornstarch slurry.
  6. Combine and Serve: Return the salmon fillets to the skillet and spoon the orange glaze over them to coat evenly. Optionally, garnish with additional orange slices. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For a thicker, glaze-like sauce, use the optional cornstarch slurry. Omit it for a thinner sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days.
