A delightful and creamy Peppermint Chocolate Whipped Greek Yogurt that combines the rich flavors of cocoa and peppermint with the tangy creaminess of Greek yogurt. Sweetened naturally with maple syrup and lightened with heavy cream, this dessert is perfect for a festive treat or a healthy indulgence. Serve chilled for a mousse-like texture and garnish with mini chocolate chips, whipped cream, or crushed candy canes for extra holiday flair.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt (2% or whole fat)
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3–4 tablespoons maple syrup (3 for normal sweetness, 4 if you like it sweeter)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract

Flavorings

  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-process or natural)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Optional Toppings

  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Whipped cream
  • Crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Whip the yogurt: Add the Greek yogurt, heavy whipping cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract to a mixing bowl fitted with a whisk attachment or use a hand mixer. Begin mixing on low speed for about 20 seconds until the cream starts blending with the yogurt.
  2. Keep whipping: Increase the mixer speed to the highest setting and whip for about 2 minutes. Then reduce the speed and turn off the mixer. Use a spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl, ensuring everything is well combined. Continue mixing for another 1-2 minutes until soft peaks form when the whisk is removed; these peaks should stand up but not be stiff.
  3. Add cocoa: Add the unsweetened cocoa powder and salt to the bowl. Mix on low to medium speed until the cocoa is fully incorporated. Finish by stirring gently with a rubber spatula to ensure an even chocolate flavor throughout.
  4. Serve & store: Serve immediately or refrigerate the whipped yogurt overnight for a thicker, mousse-like texture. Garnish with optional toppings like whipped cream, mini chocolate chips, or crushed candy canes for added flavor and decoration. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Use full-fat or 2% Greek yogurt for the best creamy texture.
  • Adjust the maple syrup quantity based on your preferred level of sweetness.
  • For a stronger peppermint flavor, carefully increase peppermint extract but avoid using too much as it can be overpowering.
  • Chilling overnight enhances the texture, making it light and mousse-like.
  • Leftovers keep well in an airtight container refrigerated for up to 5 days.
