These Pretzel Cowboy Sliders are a delicious blend of savory ground beef, sharp cheddar cheese, and crispy fried onions, all sandwiched between soft King’s Hawaiian pretzel slider buns. Topped with jalapeños and brushed with flavorful cowboy butter, they make the perfect bite-sized treat for parties or game day snacks.

Ingredients

Hamburger Mixture

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ yellow onion, diced (about ½ cup)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon hamburger seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt

Assembly

  • 1 package (9-count) King’s Hawaiian Pretzel Slider Buns
  • 1 medium jalapeño pepper, seeded and sliced
  • 1 cup (113 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup (80 g) French’s crispy fried onions

Topping

  • 1 recipe cowboy butter, made without lemon juice, melted and divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside for assembly.
  2. Cook the Hamburger Mixture: In a medium skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef, diced onion, minced garlic, hamburger seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and seasoned salt. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring and breaking up the beef with a wooden spoon until fully cooked and no longer pink. Drain any excess grease if needed and remove the skillet from heat.
  3. Prepare the Buns: Split the slider buns horizontally. Place the bottom halves evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Add Cowboy Butter: Drizzle about 2 tablespoons of melted cowboy butter over the bottom halves of the buns to add richness and flavor.
  5. Assemble the Sliders: Spoon the cooked ground beef mixture evenly over the bottom buns. Top with sliced jalapeños, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and crispy fried onions for texture and a spicy kick.
  6. Top the Sliders: Place the top halves of the buns over the assembled fillings. Brush the tops with another 2 tablespoons of melted cowboy butter to help them brown nicely during baking.
  7. Bake Covered: Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt thoroughly and the flavors to meld.
  8. Finish Baking: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 3–5 minutes until the tops of the buns are golden brown and slightly crisp.
  9. Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven, slice them apart, and serve warm. Use the remaining cowboy butter as a brush for extra flavor or as a dipping sauce alongside the sliders.

Notes

  • To reduce spiciness, omit the jalapeños or use milder peppers.
  • For extra flavor, you can add pickles or mustard when assembling the sliders.
  • Cowboy butter can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator; warm before using to make drizzling easier.
  • These sliders can be made ahead of time and baked before serving for convenience.
  • Make sure to drain excess grease from the cooked beef to prevent soggy sliders.
