Slutty Brownies are an indulgent layered dessert combining a chocolate chip cookie base, a whole Oreo cookie middle, and a rich, fudgy brownie top. This homemade treat is incredibly delicious, with a perfect mix of textures and intense chocolate flavors, baked to gooey perfection in a 9×13 inch pan.

Ingredients

Chocolate Chip Cookie Layer

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (168 grams), softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (105 grams)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar (100 grams)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk (discard the white)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (188 grams)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cups chocolate chips (120 grams)

Oreo Layer

  • 28 Oreo cookies

Brownie Layer

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (112 grams), cubed
  • 6 oz dark chocolate (170 grams), 50-70% cocoa or semi-sweet
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (200 grams)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (63 grams)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder (23 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch (23×33 cm) baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Greasing the pan before adding the paper helps it stick; alternatively, simply grease the pan well.
  2. Make Chocolate Chip Cookie Layer: In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until combined and smooth. Add in one whole egg and an additional egg yolk, along with the vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly but avoid adding the discarded egg white. On low speed, gradually mix in the all-purpose flour and salt until combined. Turn off the mixer and gently fold in the chocolate chips using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon. Spread this cookie dough evenly in the prepared pan, smoothing the surface with a spatula.
  3. Add Oreo Layer: Arrange the Oreo cookies evenly on top of the cookie dough layer, pressing them down gently but firmly so they stick slightly. You should fit about 7 rows of 4 cookies each, using some halved cookies on the edges to cover the dough completely.
  4. Prepare Brownie Batter: Finely chop the dark chocolate. Place the chopped chocolate and cubed butter in a large heatproof bowl and microwave them at medium power in 45-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. Be careful not to microwave on high to avoid graininess or burning. Let this mixture cool for about 5 minutes, then whisk in the eggs and granulated sugar until combined. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then whisk these dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined.
  5. Assemble Brownie Layer: Spoon dollops of the brownie batter over the Oreo cookies across the pan. Spread the batter gently and evenly with a spatula, taking care not to disturb the Oreo layer underneath, creating a smooth top layer.
  6. Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 37 to 45 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven and your preferred brownie texture; bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and cool completely in the pan for at least 4 hours. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan. Transfer to a cutting board and slice into approximately 18 squares. Store leftovers at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Notes

  • Pan Sizes: This recipe can be halved to fit an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan. Baking time will reduce to about 32-37 minutes. When halving the cookie dough layer, use only 1 large egg. Do not use a 9×9 inch pan for half batches due to the thin batter layer.
  • Chocolate Chips: Avoid adding more chocolate chips than specified as it can make slicing the brownies difficult.
  • Dark Chocolate: Use dark chocolate with 50-70% cocoa content or semi-sweet chocolate for a balanced richness. Avoid higher cocoa percentages as the brownies are already rich.
  • Nutrition Info: Nutrition estimates provided are for a single brownie when the recipe yields 18 portions.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days to maintain freshness.
