Smashburger Quesadillas are a delightful twist on classic quesadillas, combining seasoned ground beef and melty cheddar cheese inside crispy, toasted flour tortillas. Perfect for a quick, satisfying meal with the option to add traditional burger toppings for extra flavor.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste

Quesadilla

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese

Optional Toppings

  • Pickles, sliced
  • Diced onions
  • Burger sauce, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Skillet: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat to ensure it’s hot enough for cooking the beef and crisping the tortillas.
  2. Season and Press Beef: Take a small handful of ground beef and press it directly onto one half of each flour tortilla. Season generously with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to infuse flavor.
  3. Cook Beef Side: Place the tortilla beef-side down on the hot skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the beef is nicely browned and begins to cook through.
  4. Flip and Add Cheese: Carefully flip the tortilla over, then sprinkle the cooked side with shredded cheddar or American cheese. Fold the tortilla in half to encase the beef and cheese.
  5. Grill Until Crispy and Melty: Continue grilling both sides of the folded quesadilla until each side is golden brown, crispy, and the cheese has melted thoroughly.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Slice the quesadillas into manageable wedges, then serve immediately with optional burger toppings like pickles, diced onions, and burger sauce for dipping or spreading.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheese for better melting and flavor.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more or less garlic powder as preferred.
  • For a crispier quesadilla, press down gently with a spatula while cooking.
  • Optional burger toppings add a fun extra layer of flavor but are not required.
  • Use a non-stick skillet for easier flipping and clean-up.
