Sriracha Salt is a flavorful seasoning blend made by combining coarse sea salt or kosher salt with spicy sriracha sauce and drying it in the oven. This versatile condiment adds a spicy kick to any dish, perfect for sprinkling on meats, vegetables, or snacks.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 cup coarse sea salt or kosher salt
  • ⅓ cup sriracha sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside. This will prevent the salt mixture from sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a small mixing bowl, add 1 cup of coarse sea salt or kosher salt and ⅓ cup of sriracha sauce. Stir thoroughly until the salt is evenly coated with the sriracha, ensuring the mixture is uniform.
  3. Spread Mixture: Spread the sriracha salt mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Aim for a thin, uniform layer to allow even drying.
  4. Dry in Oven: Place the baking sheet into the oven and immediately turn the oven off. Allow the mixture to dry for 60 to 90 minutes, stirring once or twice during this time to break up any clumps and promote faster drying.
  5. Cool the Salt: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the sriracha salt cool completely to room temperature.
  6. Break up Chunks: Once cool, break up any chunks by mashing the salt in a mixing bowl or rolling over it with a rolling pin until the salt reaches your desired texture.
  7. Store Properly: Transfer the finished sriracha salt into an airtight jar to preserve its flavor and texture. Store in a cool, dark cupboard.

Notes

  • Storage: Keep the sriracha salt in an airtight container and store it in a cool, dark cupboard to maintain its flavor intensity and freshness.
  • Use the sriracha salt as a spicy seasoning to add flavor to grilled meats, roasted vegetables, popcorn, or any dish that could use a kick of heat and saltiness.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to taste if you prefer a milder or spicier salt.
