These Strawberry Heart Rice Krispie Treats are a delightful twist on the classic snack, combining the nostalgic crunch of Rice Krispies with the sweet flavor of strawberry marshmallows and jello. Perfect for festive occasions or everyday treats, they’re easy to make and can be shaped into charming heart shapes for an extra special touch.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
  • 1 bag (10 oz) strawberry-flavored marshmallows
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (3 oz) strawberry or berry-flavored Jello

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Line a baking dish with parchment paper and lightly spray it with non-stick pan spray. This will make it easier to remove the treats once set.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over low heat. When the butter is almost melted, add the bag of strawberry marshmallows. Stir gently on low heat until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add Jello: Stir in one package of strawberry or berry-flavored Jello powder until it is well incorporated into the melted marshmallow mixture, giving it a nice fruity flavor.
  4. Combine cereal: Quickly add 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Stir thoroughly to coat all the cereal evenly and combine the mixture well.
  5. Press into dish: Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Using a silicone spatula, press and flatten the mixture evenly across the dish to create a smooth, flat surface.
  6. Chill: Place the dish in the refrigerator and let the treats chill until they are set and firm, typically a few hours or overnight.
  7. Shape treats: Once chilled and set, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the Rice Krispie treats into heart shapes. Alternatively, you may prepare these treats in individual heart-shaped silicone molds or cut them into classic squares.

Notes

  • Use any strawberry or mixed berry-flavored Jello that appeals to you; frozen berry blends work great for flavor.
  • Ensure you use a silicone spatula or parchment paper to press the mixture flat to get smooth tops and avoid stickiness.
  • When cutting shapes, refrigeration helps them hold their form better.
  • Butter can be salted or unsalted according to preference, but unsalted is preferred for better flavor control.
  • For easier removal from the pan, lining with parchment paper and spraying it with non-stick spray is highly recommended.
