A refreshing and vibrant Strawberry Matcha Latte combining homemade strawberry sauce with frothy matcha green tea and milk. Perfectly balanced between fruity sweetness and earthy matcha flavors, this iced latte is a delightful treat to enjoy any time of the day.

Ingredients

Strawberry Sauce

  • 1 lb strawberries, washed and cut into small pieces
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons lemon juice (optional, to taste)

Matcha

  • 3 g matcha powder
  • 35 ml hot water (175°F / 80°C)

Assembly

  • ¼ cup strawberry sauce
  • ½ cup (125 ml) milk of choice
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Make Strawberry Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice if using. Stir occasionally until the strawberries soften and release juices, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 8-10 minutes, allowing the mixture to thicken. For desired texture, smash the strawberries with a wooden spoon for chunkier sauce or blend with an immersion blender for a smooth consistency. Transfer to a container and refrigerate to cool while preparing the matcha.
  2. Prepare Matcha: Sift the matcha powder into a bowl placed over a kitchen scale. Add 35 ml of hot water heated to 175°F (80°C), then whisk vigorously using a matcha whisk until well combined and frothy.
  3. Assemble the Latte: In a serving glass, add ¼ cup of the chilled strawberry sauce, fill with ice, and pour ½ cup (125 ml) of your preferred milk over the ice. Top the drink with the prepared frothy matcha. Stir gently to mix the flavors before enjoying.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness of the strawberry sauce by adding more or less sugar based on preference.
  • Lemon juice in the strawberry sauce is optional but adds a lovely brightness.
  • Use any milk of your choice, such as dairy, almond, oat, or soy milk, to customize the latte.
  • For a smoother strawberry sauce texture, use an immersion blender after cooking.
  • Matcha powder should be sifted to avoid clumps and ensure a smooth latte.
